Underground Experimental Experience Edition 13: Buttersnakes - Snakes Alive

 


Normally I tend to avoid writing about bands twice but Bobby Butter and Sammy Snakes are breaking up if I don’t so being the last thread keeping the band together I must review this album. This album is truly a mystery to me, I thought I already had this on CD but there are two (or possibly more) variants of Snakes Alive which have different songs on them. It’s funny to me how threatening yet hilarious this album is. It starts off with some tropical background music while a heartbroken Bobby Butter is longing for his girl to pick up her damn telephone. 

This version has a favorite of mine “Fitchburg” where it sounds like the buttersnakes are ganging up on me...In Fitchburg. I wouldn’t say anything to the Buttersnakes faces in Fitchburg if I were you. Some of these tracks embrace strange and nonsensical themes as well like “get me 2 the dentist girl” and “feed me eels”. The Buttersnakes will not disappoint you in making you laugh and wonder what is genre.

    I love Buttersnakes. The fried fish and British banker themes...hilarious stuff. This album confused me as well, as I had just bought a Snakes Alive album earlier this year (w/Pokemon cover). The albums are indeed different except for two tracks (Feed Me Eels and Dumptruck Blues). I just checked Spaghetti Tapes, and the old version is no longer available. This newer version originally had 18 tracks when I bought it, instead of the current 12. Also, the original album cover was different. This one is the cover I have for Very Snakes Vol. 1. All of this is what makes collecting Jeff's stuff so fun. Don't know why it says GReg on here, this is Pumpkin Friend. Hello,.

Underground Experimental Experience Edition 2: The Cult Phenomenon of Buttersnakes

  Buttersnakes has to be one of my favorite outsidercountry-comedy-parody-cult collection of nonsensical songs on my radar in a while. Founded by two longtime Massachusetts psychedelic and outsider musicians, Jeff Unfortunately (or Jeff Gallagher) and Ethan of psychedelic noise band AD.UL.T.  This project really captivated me from the get go with tracks such as “Dump truck blues (Springsteen version)”, “The Brutal Gangland Style Slaying of Tony Rigatoni”, “Fitchburg” and “Fla Keys Tourism Theme”. Underground Experimental Experience Edition 4: Shane Jones Move Aside I Have Discovered the Zeal We Will Use The Will For Real

  Alarm alarm the single most impressive Casio SKS Music sound adventure has arrived with Shane Jones on “Move aside I Have Discovered the Zeal We Will Use For Real.”   Boisterous beats and alarming loops will encompass you while you delve into this abrasive sound corroboration of keyboard delights. The best part about the album for me is that it is reminiscent of playing Castlevania hooked up to distortion pedals and a spaghetti strainer which I’ve never done but now want to accomplish. Auditory crunching and paddling is prevalent on these recordings and also utilizes looping to interact with the listener in activities such as wondering whats coming from your speaker or maybe nodding in agreement.  I also find everything about this soup to be tasty and delicious!
