Flowery Speech Country Time Edition 1: Whip Appeal Cut Flowers
Whip Appeal can be described as american freight train wreck country music with the paranoid, lonely and outsider class. Stumbling upon this band will remind you of crate digging for vhs tapes in the record store, or all of the forgotten flea markets and shows in your town where nothing happens much anymore. Whip Appeal has been a personal favorite former Massachusetts band of mine and with releases like Cut Flowers being graced from unknown land you can’t blame me. Their style of somber country intertwined with folk and rock and roll is a pure blend of classic you can’t miss out on.
Fiddling, guitaring, bassing and drumming along with singing, wailing, crying and yelling proficiently succeeds throughout this album with some fantastic rockabilly sound delights on all fronts. Shoutout James Coarse on vocals and guitar Lily Fine on vocals and bass Grape Kennedy on vocals Barstool “Dillon” Brown on fiddle and Lefty Bill Ore on drum for making this wonderful album happen.
